(More customer reviews)When I got these traps (I ordered 2), I was immediately impressed.They are sturdily made of a powder-coated metal, probably steel, and have a very nice trip mechanism.I bought them solely for chipmunks, and immediately baited them and set them out.For several days, I found the trap tripped, but empty.I thought the trigger mechanism was faulty, but the next day found a chippie inside.An hour later I got ready to take the trap out for relocation, and it was empty.Hmmm.I measured the door, and it is about 4" wide, but the opening is 4 ¾", and the door slides freely from side to side.That ¾" opening is plenty of room for chippies or rats to walk right out.So, with this trap, you give your chippies a nice meal, then they laugh and wave as they stroll out to cause other mischief.
If you are trying for squirrels or small rabbits, this should work fine.But for chippies, the poor door design makes it worse than useless.
